I really want to see those amv's again. As earlier sad. The quality was better then last year. I was happy that the free that that I had was spend on the amv competition. And yeah, the prizes were awesome

What was up with that?

And I don't know if there was a lack of time or something, but I kinda missed hearing from the editors what they made and them telling a small story about their AMV. That's always interesting to hear.
I can probably explain them, since I did the playback.

1) There we're like 5 AMV's who had damaged/broken video/audio tracks, which Saniiro-san and me actually either didn't notice until MPC went crazy about them.
I couldn't check them all for ingularities since I wasn't the one gathering the AMVss togheter.
Also, I didn't had much to do with the AMV Compo in general, but got involved just on the convention itself, as Alex - who was suppose to cover with Saniiro-San this years AMV Compo - backed out of Abunai cause of personal issues. Thus I had a rush-work on my mind (fixing the stills in the middle of each AMV and such) and you can always forget or make a little mistake.
The one you mention about 15 seconds of blackness in the end, was cause the video track was damaged, and played faster then it normally should.

2) About the 2nd thingy about the speedup of the anime, I seriously have no idea what went wrong there (or if it was suppose to do that) since I fastly went through all the AMV's myself, and didn't had issues on my home PC, perhaps CCCP was F@#%ed up, since I always use K-Lite Codec Pack for encoding purposes... The installation was given by a other Video guy who did the row-entertainment like playing small AMV"s and short anime's on the congrounds, since I forgot to bring K-lite installation with me -_-.

I used Quantizer at 1 to encode the project, so I gues it has a variable bitrate in the video. ( I used these too to encode my HD camera files to avi. ) I could try to use a fixed bitrate but there will be frame's which takes diskspace which doesnt need to take that space though.

But anyway thanks for the advice I will do something about that.

Maybe a tip.
Use footage at highest setting (who cares it takes up HDD space, get a TB HDD then xD) and export at a lossless setting at HD quality (for example Huffyuv).
Then re-encode it using for example MeGUI or VirtualDub to a final version.
MeGUI has a very good way of encoding HD material (H264) into a MKV or a MP4.
2-pass encoding I would recommend, but a 1-pass encode might be ok too.
You really don't need to use the lossless setting in H264 codec, since it will just mostly eat HDD space you could use for other things anyhow.
For example, you could encode it to a bitrate of 1000 or 1200 using 2-pass encoding, then you probably have the best quality you can reach.

For editting, make sure your editting package is using the EXACT same size of the video files, or close to it.
That way you can prevent making your video clip look awful (this includes also for exporting ^^).

A: The AMV Compo will be on sunday, and all participants will have to be present at the show. You will recieve more instructions after we have recieved your sign-up. Exceptions can be made...
Was an exception made in your case?

OT. It was a nice Compo, i truly enjoyed it. Despite the late entree date, and the short time of judging, and the hickups, i think it went just nicely.
There were btw no serious talks with the editors on stage because of time. there was an hour planned, and even now it turned out to be 75 minutes... Good thing you guys started a little early.

(kinda offtopic, but o well ;D)
Your workshop was good too.
Although I had some updates and things that I knew about encoding and told this, I think the explanation of yours, did a very good job.
Atleast, I understood some things in AE that I never knew how it worked, but I do now

OffTopic as well.

Thank you.

The crowd was somewhat overwhelming, as you probably noticed. I expected a crowd of 6 or so, in which we could have an informal talk, so i had to whing it a little (much. lol). Despite, i loved doing it. And should i be invited next time, i'm going to make sure that there is a lot more info, and a lot more structure in it.

Oh was that your AMV that played too fast ?
Next time, please make sure you use the latest codecs, and that it runs properly on some players.
You could test it on like MPC, VLC, etc..

Yah, I didn't had problems with it before to be honest.
Then I don't know what had happened.

Next year, we will be making a big movie from all AMV's, to prevent these kind of hicups.
