If a friend of mine is coming with me, I'll probably go as Amane Misa or Yuki Cross too.

It is an excellent idea to take the schematic as a basis for your hakama. I have also found out it works very well if you widen or shorten the distances according to your waist circumference, or the place where you will tie the obi and the himo (straps). I'm quite a lot bigger than the average Japanese so I have enlarged the schematic to suit my waist. Like when a distance on the schematic is 10 cm, take 12 cm and enlarge every distance proportionally. This is to make sure your hakama pleads and folds will fall naturally straight instead of curved, especially the back-pleads.

Trust me, I've seen quite a number of big guys on the tatami (I practice Aikido) who were wearing a hakama made for a much smaller waist and it doesn't look appealing . Still will gladly practice with them. Lots can be learned from these yudansha

Btw, the schematic is excellent for scaling down to 1/3 or 1/4 for ABJD's

My brother insists on going as Ash Ketchum for the act competition and since it's his first con I'll let him have his way I'll be going as Honey-sempai from Ouran for our skit and I'm still thinking on what to go as for the other 2 days. I might give my impression of Daisuke with wings another try if I can get my bro to gimme his hair gell LOL last years attempt ended in dark with a bad hairday >.>

But yeah I need a cosplay that easy to make and especially CHEAP moving suddenly really kills your budget I've noticed.
