Default What's in your bento today?

Who ever has traveled to Japan should know that bento is the Japanese way of lunch. The idea of making bento appealed to me since I really don't like the same old plain sandwich every day over and over again. I now make bento a lot for Zeronic when he has to work and for myself when I go to school. This does not mean in my case that I have Japanese ingredients in my bento every day I usually take some leftovers from dinner and add some side dishes to it, like fruit.

I love to make recipes just for the bento though and today I am making taco muffins to take with me to school tomorrow.

Do you make a bento? What do you put in it?

We have a very nice cafateria at my workplace, so I never bring something with me.

every day something else is on the menu, so I am happy.

When I was on internship in Japan, I always bought an eki-ben (trainstation bento) on my way to work (I had a 2 minute train switch, just enough ^^). Quite cheap and pretty good. there was also a bento shop on the way to where I worked, fresh made bento's for people with no time to make 'em.

I Holland I never make lunch at home and just eat somewhere in the city everyday during my break. I miss the eki-ben ;_;

My Girlfriends loves bento's tho, especially the cute ones. She made me one for work once ^^V

Making them myself is to much for as hassle, and I'm really bad at leaving left-overs to put in the bento after I made a good Japanese meal xD I just eat until its all gone ^^;;

I love having some meat in my bento like tonkatsu or chicken katsu. Or a nice glazed eel As sidedishes I like japanese potatosalad and the pickled plums and radishes. Some rice of course to fill the stomach. Fresh fruits are nice too.

Yesterday I had a bento to school with falafel in pita, salad and pasta with spinach, cream cheese, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. Very not Japanese contents, very tasty

Making tamagoyaki isn't as easy as it looks! I tried today and failed this time! (had better attempts in the past but it stays tricky. Even though it doesn't look like much, it tastes good as a side dish in my bento for tomorrow. http://shelikesbento.blogspot.com/20...lad-bento.html

What are your lunch plans? I feel like I am talking to myself

Cupcakes and muffins are always a good option to put in a bento I especially bake a lot of hearty muffins to take with me in a bento
